Radio / CD modules sometimes fail on the CAN BUS chips inside. This will give you a screen with 6 rectangular boxes, numbered 1-6. Repair is often unconomical therefore a replacement unit will need to be sourced.
That was the problem with my radio. I had to buy a twin brother and take the CD module away from him. Everything worked out. And now I'm enjoying the music.
