Ford Focus 1999 - struggling to get serial number

Hope somebody can help me. When I push 1 and 6 I get 50600 500 with a smaller 255 below. Not the kind of code that I was expecting.
The radio will have to be extracted from the dashboard in order to quote the Serial Number printed on the label
