Wrong Code ????

My daughter has just purchased a 2005 Fiesta Zetec but on driving home from the dealer, noticed that the radio was showing the "Wait 30 mins" countdown. The car came with with the service book which has the original radio detail sticker on the front which shows - Unit Type FDC200, Serial Number M140687 and Key Code 8593. When the time delay expired, we entered the Key Code, but the radio then displayed "Locked 10", so clearly this was the wrong code and we had reached the final try.
I switched the radio off and on again whilst holding preset button 6 (which according to a web search gives you a final 3 goes) and tried again in case I had punched the wrong numbers previously, but had the same result. We are now on "Locked 12" and am loath to try again in case I completely lock up the radio.
The only thing I can think of, is that we have the wrong service book (and therefore radio details) but the service mileages and garage locations all tie up with current mileage and log book. Am I missing something more obvious?
Hopefully someone on this forum with more knowledge on these matters than me, can offer some advice?

Just to confuse matters - the unit type on the label shows FDC200, but in the User Manual, the system which matches the one in the car is shown as a 4500..................

Do you (or anyone)have any experience of trying the 8 stages to reset the code as detailed your link? Does it work? I would rather do this (if it works) than go through the hassle of taking out the radio to find the serial number.

Problem solved !!!
The radio had been changed. With the new serial number it was easy to get the code and all working fine now. Did not need to remove radio after all. See post "Obtain radio serial number without removing radio"
